Astoria Reverie is a show of mixed-media photographs by prominent fine art photographer Jody Miller, who portrays an ethereal vision of Astoria, from revered landmarks and iconic structures to the surrounding wildlands. She has chosen elegant, moody nocturnes and contemplative landscapes from her vast oeuvre to transform into one-of-a-kind artworks. In a segue from her usual process, she has enhanced these photographs with a textured layer of encaustic medium—beeswax mixed with damar varnish—thus imparting a translucent veil of mystery over each image for a painterly effect and dreamlike appeal.  Primarily a landscape photographer, Jody delights in photographing in twilight when colors deepen and shadows slowly encroach on the light.
